It takes nothing to be kind!
Your kindness and how you respond to people makes a tremendous difference to your business
To quote a brilliant marketing guru, Seth Godin: “Marketing is anything that touches the market. That’s the way you answer the phone; it’s your pricing; it’s the way your employees feel.”
To me, it’s the way you treat people on a daily basis!
On four occasions in the past week I’ve been thanked in the business environment for simply being me. It’s so humbling, but also makes me realise how rare it must be if it stands out so much!
- At an awards ceremony, a young man came to find me to tell me how grateful he was for how I’d spoken to him on the phone, and how it had made his day. I had been polite and chatty, but apparently no-one else he’d called had……and it wasn’t even cold calling!
- I listened to a speaker at an event, so posted on LinkedIn that I’d really enjoyed it and found it valuable. The speaker reposted what I’d written with this response : “It honestly means a lot to get this kind of feedback, so thank you. You’ve made a difference to my day!”
- A colleague bought me a stunning notebook (I love notebooks!) as a thank you for always looking out for her, see the photo of the gorgeous book below!
- A lady I recently met posted this on LinkedIn: “A special shout-out to: Meena McDonald who is an amazing lady I’ve recently met at a networking event and someone I consider a friend after only meeting 3 times! The messages of encouragement and brief catch ups through LinkedIn mean a lot 💕 “
It astounds me how many business owners don’t realise that every aspect of what they do is part of their marketing!
So, how do you make a difference to someone’s day?
It’s hard to tell from the photo, but my new notebook is embossed on the front and back.
I’m sure I will be able to fill it with all sorts of wonderful ramblings, although it’s almost too beautiful to write in!!
