I’ve found myself saying these words a few times lately, on both a professional and a personal level, where the actions of people have genuinely not reflected what they are saying! Examples include:

  • Clients talking about empowering staff when they’re micro-managing them!
  • Managers stating their door is always open for a friendly chat when their behaviour is intimidating and absolutely not conducive to a “friendly chat“
  • Friends who tell you they’re delighted at how you’re growing as a person, yet their tone/language/facial expressions state something quite different!

How true are you to your word?

Everyone can use words like “Committed to the best customer service”, “The most innovate products on the market” but are they really true?

For me, I prefer honesty.

If someone has made a mistake or their product or service isn’t up to scratch, then I’d rather they admit it, apologise and do their best to rectify it.

That leads to loyalty on my part, whether that’s to a company, product or friend.

How do you get the true essence of your business across to your customers?

How about you tell your story and explain how you can deliver what they are looking for.

People are much more responsive if they feel a connection to you and truly believe you can provide a solution to what they are looking for.

That isn’t going to be achieved through empty words and promises….
